AgriTec Foliar Programs in Rice: Yield & Milling Response

The leanest program tested took the top yield at 79.7 bu/ac: 5.1 bu over the untreated check and 9.7 bu over the heaviest program, on 16.5 gal/ac against 27.25.

The breakdown

What happened, measurement by measurement.

Every chart below is transcribed from the report you can open above. Green means the AgriTec program won the measure outright; grey means it came in statistically even, which on a quality measure is the result you want — the yield came without a give-back.

What the report says

  • The leanest program at 16.5 gal/ac total delivered the top numeric yield, 79.7 bu/ac.
  • Rate response was flat above that: the 27.25 gal/ac high-rate program finished last at 70.0 bu/ac.
  • Program 3's only structural difference was a second 0.25 gal/ac shot of Bio-Act, the treatment worth re-testing.
  • Head rice ran 2 to 3 points above the check on Programs 1 and 2, and total rice trended up across all three programs.
  • Stands of 80 to 85% and harvest moisture of 13.4 to 13.9% were even, so differences were not driven by establishment.

Trial notes & scope

  • One site-year at Agricenter International in 2023, four replications.
  • Yield treatment P(F) = 0.13 against an LSD of 8.15 bu and a CV of 6.8%; all means share the letter a. Read that as rate parity: the 16.5 gal/ac program held the same yield as programs carrying 22.25 and 27.25 gal/ac, so the extra product bought nothing here.
  • The head rice LSD of 7.12 points is larger than the +3.2 point head-rice difference, so treat the milling numbers as a trend.
  • The report recommends a second replicated site-year, ideally on-farm strips, before the +5.1 bu figure is used as a yield claim.
